July 25, 2016 -- "I am so thankful to be a missionary."

Drahy Family and Friends,

I am so thankful to be a missionary. I LOVE BEING A MISSIONARY! I pray that I will never stop being a missionary for the rest of my life.

This week we were able to go to Karlštejn and to a little memorial where the mission was dedicated. Though it was like covered by trees and overgrown with plants, it had one of the most beautiful spirits I have felt. I am so thankful for brave people who started to teach the message of happiness to my wonderful Czech brothers and Sisters even if that meant putting there lives at risk. I am so thankful for my brother and sisters who kept the light going even during communist rule. I know this Gospel blesses each who get to be around it if they make the Savior a priority.

From more than one example, I have learned to be so thankful for at least what we have--whether that be a lot or a little. Job said "the Lord gave, and the Lord hath taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord." Everything we have God has given us. Sometime what the Lord gives us, he takes away again. At this point in Job's life, he has lost almost everything. Yet he still praises the Lord.

I have had two examples of this this past week in this mission. Last week, we received a message from our investigator Z____  that his mom is no longer with
us. We tried to be as sensitive as possible to the situation when we met on Friday. We asked if he had prayed since his mom died; he said no. We again explained prayer, that we can ask God anything, and He will surely answer us. We asked if he would pray, and he said, "I need to first pray on my own. I want to thank God for what he has given me." We were in awe.  This boy just had his mother taken from him, but he wanted to thank Him for what He had given him.

The other example was this sweet old lady. We were walking up this huge hill yesterday as this old lady was watching us. She could barely walk. She told us to come in, that she would love to sit and talk for a while. She told us of when her health started declining, how she occasionally would fall on the ground and not be able to get back up,  the passing of her husband, and so on. But he said every morning, "I thank God that I can live that I can breath, and find strength through Jesus Christ." She was filled to the brim with thankfulness.

I am so thankful for the wonderful examples of thankful people I have had my whole life!

July 18, 2016 -- "I believe in Christ."

Jesus said “I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live”¨ So that is really about it.
Thankfully, I believe in Christ, so I am living. But I really don't have a ton of time. But I will send some pictures.

There was the biggest slippery slide down the main street which we live on.

It was so cool looking out our window.  It was also really hard to weekly plan . . ..

This is proabably on of my favorite things about Europe--just having big dogs walking around my fav pizza restuarant.

Foggy nights in Liberec

Our "service family." They literally said they don't think shoes are necessary.

July 11, 2016 --"How's your lighting?"

Something I have realized this week is when people say 'that sounds too good to be true' for Czechs, sometimes I think the Gospel of Jesus Christ sounds that way. They don't understand that that the Gospel simply sounds good and it simply is true.

I testify from this computer and everyday that the Gospel is the thing that, can change lives, give new starts, gives answers to questions, bring light into our home, family, and soul, it can reach that far. Jesus taught,

I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

I have often felt like King Lamoni in Alma 19 in my conversion process and felt the light of following Christ.
He knew that the dark veil of unbelief was being cast away from his mind, and the light which did light up his mind, which was the light of the glory of God, which was a marvelous light of his goodness—yea, this light had infused such joy into his soul, the cloud of darkness having been dispelled, and that the light of everlasting life was lit up in his soul, yea, he knew that this had overcome his natural frame, and he was carried away in God.
Sister Huylar and I last Tuesday were tracting after we attempted to visit a less active member. We tracted into this middle aged man. He had a huge cherry tree. He got us a bag and handed us, it seemed, like the never-ending supply of cherries off the tree until our bag was overflowing. We thanked him so much and asked if he felt like he had a relationship with God. He was pretty "classic" and didn't really want to talk much about anything we wanted to say but made us lemonade with mint from his garden, and lots of sugar. It was sooo good! While we were drinking his mother came out with his father. But the mother could barely walk. So, she went into a shed-hangout place,  and we decided to see if we could share a message with her or at least pray. She lay on the couch, facing us. barely being able to move, only holding a cigarette. We asked if we could pray with her, she agreed that would be okay.  After the prayer had ended, she was crying and opened up. She asked why things happen in the world? Why is she like this? And she stated that God did not exist. We went through things like: free agency, we need trials to understand happier times in live, and so on and so forth. We shared that prayer works, testified that God is there, that she is important to him, and that everything in this life will be made fair. She replied, "Talk to me when you are 70." I gladly said I would love to talk to her when I am 70 because by then she will have realized that everything will be fair and that God is there. That would be one of the most spiritual experience of my life. I am so excited for that! She still could not wrap her head around the fact that the Gospel is that good and it is that true. God can not force us into the light. I love the P______ family! I pray I will see them again.

On the flip side I have seen some people this week starting to let the light in, one being a less-active named M___. She texted us and said, I want to become active in the church again. We have started meeting with her, reviewing the lessons she learned in the past. She is slowly coming in to the light again and her appearance is changing each time we see her.

Also, we have two wonderful investigators with baptismal dates, K___ and  Z_____. They both have expressed regrets of past transgressions and people they don't want to be. It's the best opportunity as missionaries to be with them every step of the way. It is my very favorite activity to do on earth! They both have baptismal dates for the 13th of August. WE ARE SO HAPPY!!😊

I was also studying in Psalms 56 and read a verse

For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?

I know that as soon as we decide to make a change, we have people cheering for us every step of the way. People sometimes think of Heaven as a finish line and God and Christ waiting at the end. But I know Christ, maybe family members, maybe friends, maybe missionaries, are with us now and can help us on this path!

May we walk with God in the light while we are living.

July 11, 2016 -- "This is our weekly letter."

This is our weekly letter. It's sooo cool always.

July 4, 2016--"No čau, hezky svátek!"

No čau, hezky svátek!

Tady jsem ja Sestra Baxter. Jenom Česky protože máme novy Prezident Pohořelický.

Hello everybody this is Sestra Baxter in the Czech Republic! We have a new missionary Preizdent Pohořelický! We said goodbye to President McConkie which was so heart breaking. He has done so much for the Czech Republic. But I am not way too sad because I am positive I will like see him speaking at general conference this October as a next apostle and Sister McConkie as a young women's President of the Church and his family will probably just on some kind of TV show because they are like almost perfect.

But we had our first meeting with Preizdent Pohořelický and his wife fresh when they got back from the MTC. They were glowing. I don't think there is a missionary in this mission that feels like this is not what the Lord wants. With them being Czech that means everything is in Czech: trainings, letters to the mission president, you name it. I was a little bit nervous going there [to the meeting] not knowing if they would try their English out because its probably better then our Czech. But when I first heard the AP conducting our training in Czech everything felt right. It even was more humbling to hear their stories of them turning from what they would call a "classic czech atheist" to having the fullness of the Lord's gospel, to their transition in becoming a mission president family. Sestra Pohořelicka shared her testimony that she knows that these people are "hard," that they are "mean," maybe sometimes they will "tear you apart," but they are just a very "hurt" people, still recovering from being taken over so many times. She shared that she knows that her people need our message. Wow. The spirit filled the room. I know the Lord loves you all more than you can imagine

P.S. My emails might get shorter because I need to type in Czech, and I am pretty slow at that, kind of like I am in English as well.
