January 25, 2016 -- "Bright and beautiful in Jihlava"

Hope all is well. Things are pretty bright and beautiful in Jihlava. It the best time to be a missionary. We had a wonderful week full of miracles.

It started out strong last Monday. We were contacting, and we ran into a English teacher that the Elders would do presentations for. I am not sure if they have ever talked to him about the Gospel, but it was in English so I was really able to understand what he was saying and reply back to what he was saying. It was wonderful. I asked him what he thought was our purpose in life, and he really was stopped dead thinking about the question. Sister Holland and me bore our testimonies that God has prepared a plan for us. I really hope he keeps thinking about it and desires to know why we are here and how we can return to live with our Heavenly Father. After that I realized I knew all the English words I said Czech and that is what totally changed my contacting because I would loved to get these Czechs thinking about their purpose on earth and to bear testimony that this Gospel brings the blessings of knowing that answer.

On Tuesday we found a lady who can play the piano in our English class. She is so awesome, so we tried to get her to play on Sunday instead of having me and another missionary murder the hymns each week.

Wednesday we met with Veronika.(She has short spunky orange hair. She has rosy red cheeks and was wearing a light blue sweatshrit of way fuzzy blanket material and it had a bear on it. It was pretty legit.)  She is an investigator I hadn't ever met until this meeting. We were teaching her with the Ward mission leader Ondra Dite, which was such a great idea. (He is the best missionary. He is like 23 and runs our whole branch along with Preisdent Sobota who is also way young. He served in Canada ). She said she had been reading in the Book of Mormon and talked about Nephi, Laman, and Lemuel. We got into the Restoration message around the time of the Book of Morman and praying to know if it is true. She said, "I might have already gotten my answer. It is true.(We are like all dying of happiness.) She said she had a dream about Nephi telling her that the book was true and to read it. WOW, it was amazing! She said she couldn't come to church, but we set up with her this week.

Thursday we had training in Brno, which is always way good and talked about agency, opposition, and faith. I realized I need to up my faith by ten-fold because the Lord and prepared people, and we need to listen to the spirit to find. I also learned I need to stop being my afraid and put myself out there even more if I can. When we were on our way home on the train, we sat with this guy with long really pretty hair, he was writing songs. We taught him a restro lesson, and he kept saying how interesting our message sounded, so will see.

Friday we did some singing/ contacting with the other Elders. Those are always so good! I got two numbers which may have been the first numbers I have ever gotten so that was really happy for me. We'll just have to see if they are legit or not, haha.

Saturday was weekly planning. So you missionaries know how that goes...Also we tried to do building tours.  No one was out; it was so sad! Before my mission I would have been so happy to have a beautiful European town to myself, but now I like need humans around me so I can talk to them about the Gospel.

Sunday was quite the day. I got to partake of the Sacrament which is always a highlight of the week and see a less active (Sister Daskova a mix of my grandmas) receive her temple recommend.  A ton of things happened, but I really only have time to tell you all about one of the most interesting vists I've had on my mission so far. This man we stopped on the streets used to go to the Yoga camps the church used to have to call them "yoga camps" because of Communism. We invited the Elders. We kept trying to get into our lesson, but he kept giving us plants. Before anyone knew it, the whole thing broke out into a yoga session and WOW I have never seen a old man so flexible! (When people are lonely here, they will do the weirdest things to get you to stay. Like Sister Daskova was acting like a bird one time and was like laying on the ground it was something else! These people are awesome.)

Sidenote: If anyone is looking for places to rappel, come to Czech as a missionary. I can't try anything like that, but I have had some thoughts of rappelling out our church building and then hopping back and forth contacting. We could probably contact so much faster. Another thought is out of our apartment building. We are like six stories up. The best thought I've had so far is rappelling out of the train window, then you could ride on it like a swing.

January 18, 2016 -- "There are so many miracles"

This week was pretty great. We had lesson with investorství and less actives, did some finding, created some plan for our branch vision, and celebrated Sister Holland 21st birthday with drinking herbal tea and eating french toast (which is a weird way to celebrate a birthdaÿ like this for Czech.)

We had a lesson with this new investigator, Merek. (He is this Buddhista energh kind of guy) with and member there. It went general pretty well. Our member really testified.  Then he texted us and said he didn't want to be a Mormon, but then is texting us saying he want to meet again. So we will see.

We also had a lesson with Densia to get her more involved with our ward. So we brought the Relief Society president. She also really testified about faith, and the Spirit was really there. We were able to get Denisa on the email list for the Relief Society.

There are so many miracles that happen everyday here. For example, yesterday we were tracking a ponilock. We first talked to lady who truly wanted to set up with us to come back a couple days from now. But then the next lady came out with her scary dog and told us never ever to return and pretty much dragged us out. (We are for sure returning.) But who would of thought in one building someone could so ready, and someone could be not so ready. I truly do feel like I am pulling the wheat from the tares. Tender mercies from the Lord our real, and I think if we don't take time to notice them then it is hard to be happy in a world that can be really hard. I know it is so important that these people in the Czech Republic recognize Heavenly Father working in their lives. I am so thankful to be here each day.

January 11, 2016 -- "How blessed am I!"

Before I start my email I would just like to talk about traveling on trains and how that is one of the best things in life.   Of course the Gospel and family and friends is way before that, but wow!! I feel like Harry Potter every time I get on a train, and since it snowed here its gotten even better. I would recommend any person to travel vlakem or other words by the means of the train.

This last week went awesome. I become more and more in love with these people everyday and have no doubts this is were I was supposed to serve a mission. Trains, buses, the food, the buildings, the trees , and nature, how blessed am I!

We have some investigators that are not progressing currently for different reasons, Alenia and Denisa. Alenia is a recent convert's mom. She is so great! But I am pretty sure we scared her off with commitments though, and she won't call us back. Denisa is another super investigator. She is really nice at times but I think has some emotional problems.  She won't commit to read the Book of Mormon but comes to church. We had her put on the church email list, and I think she will really enjoy that.

We are also working with some AMAZING less actives: Michal and Sestra Daskova. We met with both of them this past week and had great lesson which it was mostly because they shared their testimonies about Jesus Christ and God. Sestra Daskova is now solid and is helping us with a Film Festival. Of course all the movies staring will be Mormon Messages in our Church building!

I know that Heavenly Father loves you all and knows you by your names. I know that the Gospel of Jesus Christ will bless your lives and help you do things that are physically, emotionally, and spiritually impossible. Jesus Christ is the Savior and Redeemer of the world. Through his atonement each of you can return to live with your Heavenly Father.

January 4, 2016 -- "The very best and the biggest roller coaster ride I have been on."

Ahoj to my Fav Family and Friends,

Thanks soo much for you emails. I can not tell you how much they lift my spirits each week. I love hearing about school, jobs, missions, and your lives. I promise I will try to get to you as soon as possible.

Well this week started out fairly terrible, for me at least. Within two days I had three drunk men attempt to kiss me. Thankfully all three times I had enough time to dodge. I guess sisters have not been in this area that long.  So in there minds my broken Czech probably almost sounded like I was drunk, too, talking about Jesus.  And then I was just so disgusted this whole week dodging their throw-up from celebrating the New year.  Even seeing men laying on the streets from alcohol poisoning. Then I decided something.  That these humans need the Gospel of Jesus Christ more than any humans I am pretty sure.  And even if they try to kiss me, I will just kick or punch them and leave a Resto Pamplete.

After that I started truly listening to people and realized I could honestly understand (partly) what they were saying.  Czech wasn't just a black hole that was trying to eat me.  It was sooo happy! Then instead of my hobby of planner-making during the hour we get after our nightly planning, I started studying the language.  Then I understood more.  So I started to study it during breakfast, lunch, dinner.

I finally started understanding people.  But then this whole last week our investigators didn't call us.  No one would even talk to us long enough for me to practice my Czech.  Also before we tract houses we usually leave letters saying when we will be back.  When we went back there while it was snowing there was one of our letters. It looked like it was written on in blood "Ne mam zajem." My least favorite Czech words that mean "I don't have interest"  Wow, it was so hard. I was like, "What the heck are we doing wrong?" Then I read something in this letter thing called the "Riccardo Letter." It said a mission is about doing what you are told, when you are told. Heavenly Father knows where each future investigator lives and their names.  But we need to be trusted servants first. We need to do what is right, even when it is hard and that is how Heavenly Father measures our worthiness. Hard times truly do make you stronger and the Lord knows this and that is why they exist.

The hardness of this past week was all made up by today when all of the sudden our investigators called us back.  Pople stopped to talk to us on the streets.  We set up appointments, got numbers, in the midst of the beautiful snow storm in town square. Serving a mission is the very best and the biggest roller coaster ride I have been on. Anyone who is thinking about doing it. DO IT!
